As always, a first quarter moon brings inner-self and outer-self into tension. For this particular 1st quarter moon, this provides you with an opportunity to assess your values related to what you think needs to be done and what you practically and precisely can actually manage to do (while still maintaining good health.)
All the to-dos, all your ideas, all the demands on your time....which of them are actually important? Crucial?
And which need to be put on the back burner, so that you can pay attention to the details of what you decide is truly most important?
What needs to wait because your physical and emotional resources can't maintain the effort required to "DO ALL THE THINGS?"
And how are you going to practically and humanely care for yourself as you come to terms with the fact that you literally cannot do it all? (let me give you a hint: if you're berating yourself or feeling bad about yourself, it's time to nurse your emotional health and self-image back to health. You deserve to respect your own limits and have them respected by other people. You're human, my friend. Not superhuman.)
Following are some meditative journaling prompts to support you in making these value assessments:
Meditative Journaling Prompts for Virgo First Quarter Moon
Just hopping on to share an exercise I'm doing right now to use the energy of the Virgo 1st quarter moon well.#virgofirstquartermoonI could feel my brain just running, running, running and spinning, spinning, spinning with that Gemini sun energy. The ideas. The to-dos. The information overload and the busy, busy mind. And I realized that I was going to burn right through whatever emotional and physical resources I have left today and probably be depleted for the coming days if I continued in that vein. So, despite the fact that I did NOT want to stop swimming in that mind chatter and idea generation (my natal sun, moon, Mercury, and North Node are in the House that Gemini rules, so I'm suuuper at-home in idea-generation and info-gathering), I made myself take a breath and think about a way to use Gemini and Virgo energy to support my well-being (instead of to deplete my resources.)~~And this is what came to me:I titled the first half of my paper: What I want to do(you could also write something like "What I feel like I have to do")I titled the other half: What I can practically handle(you could also write "what I can realistically handle" or something like that)Then, I started writing. You could fill out pages and pages for the first half if that's what feels like needs to come out of you right now. You're getting as much out as you need to, because once something is "living" on paper, it's usually much easier to free up the space it was taking up in your brain. Our brains can only handle so much at a time, and we use resources to maintain our lists of "things" in our brains. You literally use up things like blood glucose and ATP and other PHYSICAL resources to maintain lists and worries/concerns in your mind. Now imagine what spiritual and energetic resources you're expending! (or maybe don't imagine that right now )So, get those things that you've been maintaining in your brain out on your paper. Then tell your brain (OUT LOUD if you need to) that those things are still around. You can still come back to them, and they can come back into your brain when needed. But for now, Brain, this paper is going to hold them for us.And then pray or focus on your breath or do whatever it is you do to get connected to your body and to your intuition and to your Higher Power. Then you can start writing down the things that you can ACTUALLY handle right now. The things you ACTUALLY have the resources to think about or do something about. The things that ACTUALLY are crucial or significant right now. And, once you've done that, you could also ask yourself:-What can I do with what I currently have?-what can I do with what I'm currently willing to receive?***let me give you a hint: for this to work, your second list needs to be CONSIDERABLY shorter than your first list. I absolutely understand the temptation to make the second one long ***And that, my friends, is one way to get clear on the things this Virgo 1st Quarter Moon is inviting you to assess. I'm wishing you all the best!
