New Moon in Aquarius

01/16/2023

On January 21st, we'll experience an Aquarius New Moon. This means both Sun and Moon will be working as one in Aquarius energy. New moons are all about release and setting intentions. Letting go of what no longer serves us and setting the stage energetically for the next lunar cycle.

Here are the specifics of this particular new moon:

Sun: outer-self, external focus

in

Aquarius: society, groups, mentors and mentoring, the internet, friendships, science, innovation, the unexpected, unique and quirky

is working as one with

Moon: emotions, inner-self, intuitive focus

also in

Aquarius: society, groups, mentors and mentoring, the internet, friendships, science, innovation, the unexpected, unique and quirky

which looks like an opportunity to release what no longer serves you in how you approach society and express yourself as an individual within the collective. It’s also a chance to innovate how you approach mentorship and friendship through the intentions you set at this time.

Meditative Journaling

One way you can take advantage of this Aquarius New Moon energy is to engage in a practice I call meditative journaling. Meditative journaling is an exercise for accessing the subconscious mind and receiving answers from your own deep, inner knowing. It involves dropping into a relaxed, meditative state before responding to journaling prompts (which you can prepare for yourself, or you can use prompts someone else has created.)

My recommendation is that before you read any meditative journaling prompts, you take a few moments to focus on your breathing, closing your eyes if you’d like, doing whatever practice helps you drop into relaxation and the present moment.

Then, when you're ready, you read the first question and write down whatever comes to mind. No judgment, no editing as you go. Write down whatever comes to mind, regardless of whether it seems to make sense. Then repeat this process for all the questions. Write until you feel as though you have nothing left to write.

This exercise is a simple, yet effective way to access the power of your subconscious mind and use it for your own healing.

Meditative Journaling Prompts for the Aquarius New Moon

  • What thoughts and emotions are coming into my awareness right now?
  • In what way do I feel called to adjust my approach to friendship at this time?
  • If I were to stop adhering to a social norm that I find limiting or even damaging, what norm would that be? How would my life feel different if I were to release the need to follow that norm?
  • If fear of possible consequences were not a concern, how would I show up differently in the world? How would I “let my freak flag fly?”
  • What has been a part of me–a feeling, belief, rule, identity, etc–that I’m now ready to release? What would I love to have or experience in its place?

Through light and shadow,

Kayelee
