Third Quarter Moon in Capricorn

04/10/2023

On April 13, 2023, we'll be experiencing a Capricorn 3rd Quarter Moon.

Capricorn is very pragmatic. She wants to know what will work in rock-solid reality. Her philosophy is that leading by example is the only true way to lead. Walk your talk, talk your walk, be responsible and reliable. She encompasses the firm foundation on which anything of lasting value must be built. Reality. Universal Law. Timing.

So, there will be tension and potentially a conflict of strategies between the reality and responsibility of your inner self (and your emotions and intuitions rooted in real-world application) and the beginner's mind, "let's just DO this" focus of the Aries sun. Grounded emotion grappling with passionate action. One of the big questions at hand is: what is the emotional cost of "shoot first, ask questions later?"

Let's break down the different components of this 3rd quarter moon further:

Moon: emotions, inner-self, intuitive focus

in

Capricorn: grounded, pragmatic, reality-focused, leadership, business, structure, traditions, control, integrity, stewardship

is in a seeming conflict of values (that's actually a conflict of strategies) with

Sun: outer-self, external focus, ego

in

Aries: spontaneity, action, present-mindedness, body-focused, individualism, beginnings, aggression, assertiveness

which looks like internal tension prodding us to assess and integrate the lessons we want to take with us into the next moon cycle.

Here are some meditative journaling prompts to support you as we approach this 3rd quarter moon energy:

Meditative Journaling Prompts for Capricorn 3rd Quarter Moon

  • In what ways am I resisting my current reality? In what ways am I embracing it?
  • How would it feel to be at peace with my current reality?
  • In what way could I use my agency to be a wise steward over my own reality?
  • What price have I paid for acting without considering the consequences? What price have I paid for not acting due to being overly concerned with the possible consequences of my actions?
  • In what ways have those experiences been for my good?

Through light and shadow,

Kayelee
